The El Camino Returns from History, Sort of

New sport truck from Pontiac's Austrailian Holden division evokes the nostalgia-crazed El Camino. Will it become a reality? GM officials say that it's likely, as long as the dollar doesn't continue to drop.

C'était un Rendezvous

C'était un Rendezvous is the creation of the French filmmaker Claude Lelouch in 1976. Using a Mercedes 450SEL early one August morning, Lelouch attached a camera to the bumper of the car and sped straight through the heart of Paris. The driver is still unknown to this day, because Lelouch was never able to obtain a permit to close the streets. The driver, who Lelouch told officials was an F1 racer, went over the speed limit and blew off many red lights. When this film was first shown, Lelouch was arrested, and because of this, the footage has spent many years underground before it began to resurface on DVD a few years ago. Watch it till the end, and you'll see exactly what he was in such a hurry for. A very satisfying ending!

Newfound Planet Could Support Life

Planet-hunters say they have detected a giant world that is nestled among four others in a planetary system 41 light-years from Earth. This newfound world is in the "Goldilocks zone" - a place that's not too hot, not too cold, but just right for the existence of liquid water and conceivably life.

LLCoolDave's Top Ten James Bond Songs

I posted this list because I've often thought what my favorite Bond Songs are. I have to admit it was kind of tough but I think I made a good list. Any songs you think deserve to be on my top ten? Any songs you think should have been left off? What are your top ten Bond songs? Leave me a comment...

10 License to Kill - Gladys Knight

License to Kill is probably one of the more forgettable movies in the Bond franchise. The theme song however, is actually very good. Good enough to be number ten on my list. Gladys Knight starts the song off rather slow and methodical but the passion and the emotions rise as the song winds it's way through to a strong emotional climax. Overall probably the most underrated song of all of the Bond themes...

"I've got a license to kill,
and you know I'm going straight for your heart!"
"I've got a license to kill,
anyone who tries to tear us apart!"

9 We Have All the Time in the World - Louis Armstrong

The title of the song says it all. A slow moving song, with it's opening guitar and gorgeous strings, it's in no hurry to get to the end. Armstrong takes us for a long liesurely ride on love that's built to last.

"We have all the time in the world
Just for love
Nothing more
Nothing less
Only love,
Only love..."

8 Nobody Does it Better - Carly Simon

The lyrics is the reason why 'Nobody Does it Better' made it to number 8. Because of this song, I fantasize that there are women still out there thinking about me in this way.

"Nobody does it better,
Though sometime I wish someone could,
Nobody does it quite the way you do,
Why'd you have to be soooo good?"

Nuff said...

7 View to a Kill - Duran Duran

One of the great hits of the 80's, this Bond song was worthy effort by Duran Duran. The lyrics are quite poetic.

"The first crystal tears
Fall as snowflakes on your body,
First time in years,
To drench your skin with lover's rosy stain.
A chance to find a phoenix for the flame,
A chance to die, but can we..."

6 For Your Eyes Only - Sheena Easton

Another great twist on the world of espionage as it relates to the world of love. Who knew "Classified, Eyes Only" would have such a meaning in love?

"For your eyes only, can see me through the night.
For your eyes only I never need to hide.
You can see so much in me, so much in me that's new.
I never felt until I looked at you.
For your eyes only, only for you."

5 Diamonds are Forever - Shirley Bassey

An absolute classic, Dame Bassey really tells the tale of a girl who's been burned in love one too many times and now is in love with diamonds.

"I don't need love,
For what good will love do me?
Diamonds never lie to me,
For when love's gone,
They'll luster on..."

4 007 - John Barry & His Orchestra

Starting off like a cheesy evening news theme, 007 turns into an instrumental tour de force that screams "Bond to the Rescue!"

3 Moonraker - Shirley Bassey

Shirley Bassey's underrated of all of her Bond songs, Moonraker with its sweeping string movements excellently manages to convey a deep longing for the perfect lover only found in one's dreams. The instrumental version of this song is currently being used to promote tourisim to the Dominican Republic.

"I've seen your smile,
In a thousand dreams,
Felt your touch,
and it always seems you love me, you love me..."

2 James Bond Theme - Monty Norman Orchestra

There is really no words to describe the awesomeness that is James Bond.

1 Goldfinger - Shirley Bassey

In my Bachelor days, I used to play this song when getting dressed to go out for the evening. The song itself is a testament to what a great singer paired with a great song can produce.

"Pretty girl beware of His heart of gold,
His heart is cold
He loves only gold,
Only gold...."
